Measures
iPhone application interface
The application
Yet another unit converter utility... But the one which is really easy to use. Besides different conversion types, it gives you daily updated currency exchange rates. Assign the most frequently used conversions to the favorite buttons. And to swap the units, just shake the phone!
Glyphs
Not only did we create the overall new interface (as well as the application icon), a huge collection of application specific glyphs were also handcrafted. All glyphs had to be designed so they would be easily recognizable in 27 x 27 pixels.
The interface
Although the ultimate purpose of an application is to enable a task, the importance of an application’s appearance should not be underestimated. This is because appearance has a strong impact on functionality: An application that appears cluttered or illogical is hard to understand and use.
The whole interface was redesigned, to give the user a great visual experience. Two new themes were made, to give a more appealing application.
The client
Creating the userinterface for this popular iPhone application was both interesting and fun. Working together with great developers is always marvelous. iPhone developer Michael Neuwert had some specific ideas, which we implemented in the design process.

I never worked with the professional designer before, but working with Kevin was a great experience. The redesign of Measures was quite a challenge, and Kevin mastered it with excellence. It is not easy to explain how you would like your application to look and feel, but after discussing the initial mock-ups, we shaped the new UI shiftly.
In case with Measures it was especially difficult to create a number of glyphs symbolizing different conversion categories. Those had to be easily recognizable, which is a task in itself, especially given size constrains - which was handled perfectly.
I like Kevin’s dedication, his ability to listen and how he guides the customer through the design process. His suggestions helped to make the app stand out and provide pleasurable user experience, and I am very happy with the final result!
