Palettes
The icon
The following icons where made:
- A highresolution 512 x 512 pixel version
- Custom 32 x 32, 24 x 24 and 16 x 16 px icons
The thoughts
Palettes is a tool to store, and organize colors. To create a visual representation of that, we came up with a couple of ideas. The first draft was a actual painters palette, linking the user and color selection together with a mouse. The client was not happy with the idea of a palette, so we quickly switched direction.
Instead using the name as inspiration for the icon, we tried to use the application as our main focus. Users are familiar with a color picker, represented with the eyedropper, and the application window sports rounded squares for the colors. From there it was just a matter of getting the elements to work the best together.
